Kim Cheong Restaurant
We started our culinary tour of Johor with Kim Cheong Restaurant. Located in Jalan Ros Merah 2/11, this Chinese-style family-style restaurant has been serving customers for a long time and serves many traditional Chinese dishes, prepared with love and care.
The highlight of the restaurant is their signature roast chicken, which is crispy and charred with juicy meat. They also received an honorable mention for their new flower crab soup, which is made with local flower crab and cooked to perfection, retaining all the flavours.

Restaurant How Inn
Located along Jalan Dedap 6, Restaurant How Inn may at first look like an ordinary Chinese eatery, with its large backlit sign and wooden blinds. But make no mistake, this place is as rare as it came.
They serve the usually hard-to-find catfish in casserole, which (as far as we know) may be the only restaurant in the area that does. It is served in a large traditional clay pot, which is used to cook fish and is flavoured with soy sauce and ginger, which is delicious.

Restoran Kah Kah Loke
Located along Jalan Bakawali 39, Kah Kah Loke serves a variety of traditional Chinese dishes and Chinese delicacies and is hard to miss as they are the corner shops in that row. This brown-toned building offers many flavors under its roof.
The specialty here is the ancient bitter gourd soup. The soup is simmered for several hours until the aroma is tangy and pleasing, and at the right temperature you can enjoy it while warming your soul. This dish has become one of the must-try foods in Johor and is highly regarded by locals.

Goody Soup Restaurant
The humble building of Goody Soup restaurant in Jalan Ros Merah 2/17. At first glance, you may see that there is nothing special about the place, or even that you may think they are just an ordinary restaurant with nothing special, but you will forgive them because appearances can often be very deceiving.
In fact, the restaurant attracts soup lovers from far and wide with their elaborate soup masterpieces. Their menu features a very large number of soups, all carefully prepared in clay pots to maximize aroma and flavor. These dishes are healthy because they are composed of lots of herbs and vegetables without adding a lot of salt and seasonings.

Next on our list is a very stylized and beautifully decorated restaurant called Let’s Eat. The interior follows a palette of white and brown, with the entire space painted a flawless white and brown furniture designed to contrast with the blank canvas. The decor is modern and the atmosphere is quite well set, evoking the look and feel of a Hong Kong cafe.
There are many different cultural influences on the menu. They serve everything from French toast to wine and egg verandah to satisfy any taste.

Tien Tien Lai Kopitiam
The restaurant is a popular place for locals to grab breakfast or lunch. It serves a variety of noodles, both dried and souped, to all its customers.
Well, there is no denying that wanton mee is considered a common food and is easy to find in Johor. But the restaurant’s fried egg noodles are famous for their “flying wan tan mee”. The owner is the chef, and according to him, he “fly” the noodles during the cooking process to make them more elastic and chewy.
If you are coming here for breakfast, this signature Wan Tan Mee is highly recommended. You can also try the signature fish balls, which will never disappoint.
