Yong Peng Duck Noodle is probably the most hidden restaurant on our list, far from Jalan Besar Street in Yong Peng’s town. It takes some time to find this place. The duck noodle stall was in a commonplace food court, that will make you second guess it’s food quality. Yong peng duck noodles certainly did not disappoint. The ducks are handpicked 70-day-old Tsaiya ducks that weigh about 3 kg. The meat is firm at first and becomes succulent after the braising. Its soup is healthy and full of sausages. There is no doubt that the soup is cooked in many fragrant duck bones and forming broth-like consistency. In addition, you can add braised egg or dried bean curd along with rice or noodles to complete a hearty meal.

Fish balls lovers who happen to be at Yong Peng should not miss out Kim Kee’s fish balls! The restaurant provides a ventilated, clean environment and is recommended by the locals. Kim Kee prides itself on producing flexible and juicy fish balls without adding any preservatives. The restaurant also serves Foochow fish balls containing tender pork. All of them are made freshly from wolf herring. Also, you should try their thick seasoned noodles. Overall, together these components will become a perfect match.

Maxim Snack Shoppe is obviously a good place for locals to go for breakfast or tea. The Chinese name of the shop is literally translated as a big beard. If you come here, don’t be fooled by this dirty little shop, because it provides quite a lot of local snacks such as malay kuehs, curry puffs, siew pau et cetera. On top of that, you can order for its specialty roti bakar, perfectly complemented by aromatic coffee or tea. The beverages were brewed by no-other than Mr Big Beard himself, the traditional way.

Anthony Fish Ball is proud to produce delicious and resilient fish balls. The restaurant provides visitors with an air-conditioned area and a cool and open area where they can enjoy their food. You want something simple but nice, go and eat their noodles. This dish is delicious with soy sauce, onion oil, crispy and seasoned lard. Another crowds’ favourite is the char siew paus. These are also freshly baked in the kitchen where you can see the whole process from your table. The warm and delicious paus are flaky, crispy, and crusty on the outside, while generously stuffed with palatable minced pork on the inside. Yong peng has a large population and has a lot of Foo Chow ancestry. This makes Yong peng Town become the best place to taste authentic Foo Chow food and snacks. One of them is the Foo Chow biscuit or kompia from Kedai Eng Hin. Also known as ‘bagels of Foo Chow’, it was invented 600 years ago during wartime in China, as soldier’s food provision. All of them made by flour, sugar and lard, it is moulded into round shape and later topped with sesame seeds. Some are plain kompia and others have meat or peanuts filings.

Restaurant Hock Swee Hin is a Chinese Restaurant that focuses on serving Foochow delicacies which has a lighter taste. The menu offers Foochow noodles and Foochow soup that come along in different version. Here, Foochow fish ball noodles stand out proudly among all the Foochow dishes. Made by hands, the soft and chewy fish balls have tender pork filing. It’s perfect to savour the silky noodles together with Foochow fish balls. There are other restaurants that serve delicious Foo Chow noodles, but no one makes better Foo Chow Egg Soup than Hock Swee Hin.

Restoran Kari Kambing 40 Hari is a cafeteria offering special mutton at a low price. For breakfast, their highlight was the Roti Canai with Lamb Curry. The taste unlike our usual spicy curry, the curry is strong and slightly sweet. It’s not very hot on the whole, so the kids will like it too. For lunch, the Arab Rice with Lamb or Arab Rice with Chicken is highly recommended. It is big and one plate is enough for two people to eat. In addition, mutton and chicken are tender enough to melt in your mouth. If lack of time, you can always take away and eat at home.

Kedai Makan Ah Poh has been selling laksa for more than 50 years. This is also the local people’s favorite. Ah Poh was rated 5 stars by SinChew Newspaper for its cleanness, customer servies, food prices and food taste. The laksa here has a strong coconut flavor because broth is cooked with fresh coconut milk and other ingredients. They use only Foochow noodles and local meehoon to serve their customers, which adds some unique to their laksa. The shopkeepers here are also very sweet, they can let customers according to their own preferences to add their own spicy, so each table can be added curry powder.

It located near to North South Highway, Sunroast serves a favourite stop for those who drive between JB and KL. From the outside, the restaurant looks simple, but its interior is clean and spacious. Roast Chicken Char Siew is highly recommended by chefs and customers. It cut into small pieces and eat with silky noodles. The meat may look blackened, but it proves that it is well roasted and tastes good.

It has a very large banner, so that let the restaurant is easy to find. Red Rice Wine Chicken, Foochow pork balls, Foochow fried noodles, Foochow fish ball soup and fried sweet potato leaves are some of the restaurant’s highlight. Also, their service attitude is really very good. If you don’t know what to eat, their waiters will recommend your food according to your preferences.
