Their soup is beefier than herbal with a slight presence of oil and the pieces of tender beef were cut quite big. It can feel the oozing beefy juices even better when you bite into the chunk of soft spongy meat. Tangkak Beef serves only the soup version. There has a choice of yellow noodles, bee hoon, kway teow or lai fun.

The original section that’s right beside the railway track where you can still hear the trains chugging in and out of Kluang train station. Before order, you must got a table and please wait for the order-taker to take down what you wish to have and after which, do check the receipt to ensure the orders were correct! Payment would be made after your meal. The famous foods are nasi lemak, half boiled egg, bun and toast. Their nasi lemak is nothing luxurious hidden in the pack; just rice, peanuts and sambal chilli. Even though the rice was cold, you can’t deny the richness of the coconut milk that enveloped each grain of rice. Kluang kopi has a special aroma that didn’t smell exceptionally strong yet unique enough to take a second sip immediately. If you ask me, the taste was not bad although not memorable enough for me to say it’s the best coffee i have had so far. Of course, toast also is the famous food in Kluang. Especilally in Kluang Rail coffee, normally that has kaya and butter inside.

The soul of any curry mee is, of course, the curry. Botak’s curry is a nice balance of mild savoury-spicy-sweet. The coconut milk which held the spices and chili together was neither too thick nor overly greasy. The ingredients like house made char siew, taukwa, taupok etc are pretty nice too. Botak’s curry tastes different from curry in other places like JB or Singapore. You must to try it to know what Kluang style curry mee tastes like.

This is a hawker center and always known as Ah Fu Satay instead of their own hawker center name. Portuguese grill also is the best food at there. You can choose the stingray to do your Portuguese grill. Their Portuguese grill that is using a banana leaf rather than foiling coil. The next food agenda is the fried oyster. It is really delicious when both of them taste fresh. The crowd here is also crowded. It’s just a normal day. STAR Restaurant established in 1979, 40 year old STAR is an institution of good food in Kluang. It has only simple furniture, but it is very comfortable inside and their size is just two stores. Their signature is STAR Special Crispy Fried Duck. The friendly staff will help you to cut shredded the crispy fried duck. The crispy duck broken up into shreds ready for eating. The skin looked crisp while the meat looked tender and moist. Chicken with Sesame Oil which STAR restaurant is also well known. The kampung chicken was precisely done to 98%. So, the skin was smooth, meat was tender and juicy, and the chicken’s natural sweetness and chickiness were intact. The kampung chicken was not mushy soft but still had a bit of nice soft springy bite left. Here has nice ambiance and comfortable environment. There has friendly service and reasonable prices. So, if you are visiting Kluang, STAR restaurant is a Must Try.

Kluang is not particularly famous for their Bak Kut Teh, but it will be a good choice. The Bak Kut Teh here is of the more clean tasting type, and can fit your fancy if you don’t like those stronger tasting ones. The meat is comparable to any other bak kut teh experience out there, but the main attraction here will be the soup. If you’re not a fan of intestines and liver, do tell them beforehand in order for them to remove it before service. Here got two choice which is yam rice and white rice. The taste of the yam rice is actually tangible and is actually pretty fragrant despite looking like white rice! This is at a fairly reasonable price point about RM10. They also serve You Tiao that I recommend that you always order whenever you have Bak Kut Teh!

Here’s special in here is you can go into their kitchen to order because you can choose your own fish head that you preferred.  Although it doesn’t look good, but when you just take a scoop of the gravy and drink it. It will definitely blow away all the prejudice on this dish and scoop for more. The gravy is so delicious which you can just eat it together with plain white rice. Even though this restaurant’s signature is their Spicy Assam Fish Head but there also has another famous dish is their otak-otak. Otak means brain in Malay language. The fish taste is fresh and with prawns in it to add the tangy feeling when chewing. You will definitely say not enough. To be honest, it is no longer easy to buy luxury food at super-cheap prices. The most important thing is that it’s delicious! So you don’t mind that the restaurant isn’t focused on the appearance of their dishes.
