2. Snorkeling

If you do not have a diving license, you can just to enjoy the beauty of underwater life. Snorkeling is the second-best thing to do on the island! Diving centres and almost all of the island’s hotels have snorkeling, such as snorkeling and renting equipment for guests. Salang is widely thought to be the best place to go snorkeling on the island because you can swim to nearby coral reefs, which means you can see a lot of marine life without having to risk too far. It is also considered to be the backpacker’s centre on Timan Island and one of the most popular villages. 5. Relax at Mukut

Mukut is one of the eight main villages on the island and is said to be one of the most beautiful villages. It has one of the best beaches on the island, made up of a strip of gold sand which then backs on to crystal clear seas. Mukut is a little sleepier than some of the other villages, so if you want to leave the party, this is where you want to come. It is also a good place to observe the traditional rural life on the island.

6. Go on a fishing trip

One of the most attractive things about Tioman Island is marine life. If you want to see this up close and work for your dinner, you need to go fishing. There are several different ways to travel there. you are only allowed to fish up to 25 kilometers off the coast of Tioman Island. This means that you can either stay close to shore and have a go at reeling in a catch. You also can explore a little further and try island hopping at the same time to see which spot has the most marine life. Many fishing trips also include seafood dinner (made from your catch) as part of the package. Tioman is also famous for the wide range of tropical fish found in surrounding waters. Please note that there is a closed fishing area near Tioman, which must be 2 miles offshore. The local fishermen will let you accompany them on their fishing trips for a few ringgit. 7. Explore Monkey Beach

Monkey Beach is one of the most famous beaches on Tioman Island, and one of the best excursions on the island is from Monkey Beach to Monkey Bay. If you walk along Monkey Beach, you will find an isolated path that takes you to Monkey Bay, which in itself is a pleasant beach in the shape of an hourglass. Both the beach and the bay are known for their magnificent floating opportunities, and as you walk between you two you may come across some of the famous simians after which this part of Tioman Island is named.

8. Go sea kayaking

As you can imagine, there are plenty of water sports in Tioman. one of the water sports is sea kayaking. Many locals will tell you that the best place is on ABC Beach, where you can rent a sea kayak and then exercise on water. You can also kayak from Salang although the vessels are not as new as the ones at ABC Beach. 9. Trek from Tekek to Juara

One of the main activities’ visitors can enjoy on Tioman Island is hiking, and one of the best hiking on the island is walking from Tekek Village to Juara. Tioman doesn’t have so many roads, so most of the paths between villages still take you through the dense jungle, which is full of all kinds of animals and plants. 11. Hike to Asah Waterfall

2. By bus (via Larkin Sentral)

If you want to use the service, you will have to go through the following process.

Step 1: When you pass the Johor Customs, you need to take a bus from JB Sentral to Johor Bahru Larkin Bus Station.

Step 2:  Then, you must catch a bus from Johor Bahru Larkin Bus Station to Mersing Terminal Bus Station. The journey may take about 3 to 3.5 hours but not include the waiting bus’s time.

Step 3: When you reach to Mersing Terminal bus station, you need to take a taxi to go to Mersing Jetty which is about 4 minutes’ drive.

Step 4: Buy a ticket from the counter at Mersing Jetty and board a ferry to Tioman Island.

3. By flight (via Subang Airport at Selangor)

Tioman Island has a modern small airport, it just next to Tekek Village with small commercial flights. But there are no more direct flights from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. However, if you plan to fly to Tioman Island, you can take off from Subang Airport in Selangor. In addition, only Systematic Aviation Services (SAS) air provides this less than 2-hour short-haul flight from Subang to the island.
